While documentaries, soap operas and comedy shows are the most watched television show genres in the UK, staple reality series such as I’m A Celeb pull huge audiences when they air. Last year 7 million tuned in for the first episode, and over 9 million watched the launch in 2022.
Catch up on everything we know so far about I’m A Celeb 2024 and get ready to welcome back this British classic to your screen later on this year.
Rumoured contestants
Last year the official cast was not announced until the week leading up to the opening episode, so we might be waiting a long time to find out who’s heading to the jungle this year. However, some contestants have already been rumoured including Tom Daley who announced his retirement from professional diving after this year’s Olympic Games.
Other names on the rumoured list include Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, Eastenders legend Danny Dyer and MP Suella Braverman.
Return of Ant and Dec
Two people we can be certain of seeing in the jungle are Ant and Dec. This dynamic Geordie pair have been major players in presenting British reality series for decades and have led 23 series of the show since its inception in 2002.
Like last year, I’m A Celeb is also returning to Australia again following five years in South Africa and a brief stint in Wales. In 2024, the location is thought to be Springbrook National Park close to the Queensland border. The show will also be running in November again although the exact dates have not been confirmed as of yet.
tombola bingo
Everyone who watches ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here…!’ will be familiar with tombola. The company sponsored the series in 2023 and will be backing the show again this year.
Viewers can expect more fun pre- and post-advert shorts featuring the jungle bugs and plenty of themed articles and games in the I’m A Celeb hub on the tombola website. Through the hub, you can sign up and play online or follow the directions to download tombola’s bingo app for games on the go.
Fun facts
Impress everyone in the run-up to the launch of the new season with fun facts from previous series. For example, did you know that each celebrity is only allowed to bring three sets of underwear and swimwear in addition to their precious few personal belongings and one luxury item?
Another crowd-pleaser is the fact that the show has had a deliberate five-second delay since John Lydon deliberately swore during filming in 2004. So it’s live – but you’re always slightly behind on the action.
