Exemplar Health Care has started building Springfield Vale, its latest care home, on Perseverance Street in Barnsley. The facility, designed to support adults with complex needs such as brain injuries, dementia, and neuro-disabilities, is set to open in December 2025.
Springfield Vale will feature 33 en-suite bedrooms divided into three units, following Exemplar’s small group living model to create a homely and supportive care environment. Communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms, a salon, an activities hub, and a therapy room will also be part of the design.
Helen Lawson, Commissioning Manager at Exemplar Health Care, said:
“Our aim is to make every day better for our residents by providing person-centred care that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
“Once complete, the home will create a significant number of local healthcare employment opportunities, whilst also making sure the local community has access to a much-needed complex needs care service.”
Springfield Vale will be the third Exemplar Health Care home in Barnsley, joining Dearnevale, rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, and Neville Court. The new home is expected to generate around 100 healthcare jobs, with recruitment beginning later this year. Roles will range from care and nursing to management and administration.
Successful applicants will complete a thorough induction and training programme before residents move in. Details about the roles can be found on the Exemplar Health Care careers website at www.exemplarhc.com/careers.
The construction is being carried out by Walter Thompson, marking the 18th project they have delivered for Exemplar Health Care. Paul Hammerton, Managing Director at Walter Thompson, said:
“We’re delighted to have been instructed as the construction contractor for Springfield Vale. We look forward to continuing our mission of building spaces that enrich the lives of those with complex needs.”
