Pet owners across the UK soon have a new option for their feline friends, as Hurayra HALAL Pet Food prepares to launch its premium, ethically produced, halal-certified cat food in May. Founded by Yorkshire-based entrepreneur Aihtsham Rashid, Hurayra is the UK’s first HMC halal-certified pet food brand.
After two years of research and development, Hurayra is set to launch its flagship product—dry cat food—with premium wet food to follow later this year. Aihtsham, a passionate cat owner himself, was frustrated by the lack of high-quality, halal-certified pet food in the UK. He decided to take action and founded Hurayra to fill that gap in the market.
“As a cat owner myself, I was frustrated by the lack of high-quality, ethically produced, halal-certified pet food,” commented Aihtsham. “I knew there had to be another solution, so I set myself the challenge of becoming the first UK-based halal-certified premium pet food manufacturer. Now, after two years of hard work and overcoming significant industry challenges, Hurayra is ready to redefine pet nutrition.”
Hurayra’s dry cat food is made using ethically sourced, high-quality ingredients, free from grain, wheat, and soybean fillers, ensuring both top-notch nutrition and compliance with halal standards. The product is also packaged in recyclable materials, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to sustainability, all while maintaining affordability and premium quality.

“Pet owners can now provide their cats with a nutritious and ethically sound diet without compromise,” said Aihtsham.
Customers will be able to purchase Hurayra cat food directly from the company’s website, where they can input their cat’s details—including weight—to receive a personalised feeding plan. The brand offers both one-time purchases and subscription options for regular deliveries, making it easier for pet owners to keep their cats well-fed with tailored nutrition.
Aihtsham is no stranger to breaking new ground. His previous work in Stornoway, Scotland, saw him help build the first mosque in the Outer Hebrides, a project that earned international recognition. Now, with Hurayra Pet Food, he is once again challenging industry norms, aiming to create a trusted brand that stands for quality, integrity, and ethical responsibility.
Hurayra’s dry cat food will be available for purchase exclusively on the company’s website, www.hurayrapetfoods.com, from May. Registrations are now open, offering customers the chance to be among the first in the UK to try this new product.
