Award-winning Power Sheds sees unprecedented growth

Pandemic shopping habits and unprecedented demand have seen a remarkable growth for Bradford-based shed manufacturers, Power Sheds, over the last 12 months, seeing a predicted increase in revenue of 227%.

Having smashed through their 3-year plan within the first six months of trading, the company found themselves flourishing throughout some of the toughest times during the pandemic as people turned their attention to home improvements, creating new and improved spaces in their gardens.

Power Sheds’ growth has seen them increase from 35 to 80 staff in the last year, also ramping up their manufacturing capabilities by moving to a new 44,000 square foot factory space to keep up with the demand.

Summerhouses and potting sheds have been two of the biggest sellers this year, with co-founder Jack Sutcliffe (pictured on left alongside co-founder Simon Hobson) also commenting that Power Sheds has retained its former 10,000 square foot factory space and dedicated it solely to the manufacture of their new range of log cabins.

This success has been hard fought, with the global timber shortage, caused by a surge in post-lockdown demand, threatening to halt production and driving the price of raw materials to new levels. However, this hasn’t stopped Power Sheds meeting demands and growing.

As well as being named one of the Sunday Times ‘Top 3 Start-Ups to Watch Out For’, the shed manufacturer has also been named winner of the ‘eBay for Business Awards for Innovation 2020’, as well as Best New Business at the 2020/21 SME National Business Awards, amongst other accolades.

Co-founder, Jack Sutcliffe, commented on the success of the last year:

“When we started Power Sheds in 2019, we couldn’t have anticipated the way the world would change during that time, which makes us all the more proud to have achieved such amazing growth. More importantly, the fact that we’ve created 50 new jobs in the Bradford area in the past year and managed to revolutionise a simpler and more customisable way of purchasing sheds has been a great success.

“With summerhouses and potting sheds selling really well throughout 2021 so far, we’re happy to see the garden industry going from strength to strength. Online retailers are really flying at the moment, showing just how important it is to be digitally savvy and prepared to meet the shopping habits of today’s consumer. We’re now fully focused on continuing to grow for the rest of 2021 and beyond.”
