Ellers Farm Distillery has unveiled a brand-new distillery tour, open to the general public, which will give spirit lovers a bespoke behind-the-scenes insight into how the award-winning Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka is produced.
Yorkshire’s latest visitor attraction lies nestled amongst the rolling North Yorkshire hills, just a stone’s throw from the city of York and just 30 minutes from Leeds.
The new experience marks the next milestone in a successful year for Ellers Farm, with its debut spirit, Dutch Barn Vodka, listed in over 200 Waitrose stores nationwide, in addition to taking home three gold medals at the Global Vodka Masters.
The distillery prides itself on its unique approach to vodka-making, with each batch tasted every 20 minutes to ensure that only the highest quality reaches the shop floor. The new tour invites customers to witness the complete distilling process, from fermentation through to the finished bottle, for themselves.
Each guided tour is set to last for approximately an hour and a half, with groups led around the distillery by a member of the experienced team. Guests will also be invited to take part in a tutored tasting, with time for any individual questions. For those whose tastebuds take a fancy to the many samples on offer, full bottles will be available to purchase from the shop on-site.
The new bar, which forms part of the tour, has been created with re-purposed materials from around the farm. The back bar has been constructed from the old timber rafters taken from recently renovated farm buildings, whilst the wood slices decorating the front of the bar have been re-applied after being removed from a partition wall elsewhere in the building. Though it took more time to recover and re-purpose these building materials, the distillery team wanted to approach the design with environmental sustainability in mind.
Speaking on the new tours, Master Distiller, Jamie Baggott, commented: “It has been an incredible journey producing our special Dutch Barn Vodka. Our process is different to other distillers out there, so it is amazing that we can open our doors and offer a behind-the-scenes distillery tour to the people of Yorkshire and beyond. We hope our passion for what we do and the sustainability efforts of the distillery really shine through.”
