Sheffield city centre is getting ready to welcome a major new addition to its food and drink scene, as work officially begins on Kapital Beer Hall & Restaurant. Set to become the city’s largest destination for European beer, food and entertainment, the venue promises to deliver a bold and exciting experience for locals and visitors alike.
Located on Wellington Street, within the landmark £470 million Heart of the City development, Kapital will cover an impressive 4,500 square feet. The venue is designed to bring the best of the continent to the heart of Sheffield, offering fresh tank beer, a pan-European menu, and live entertainment—all under one roof.
Kapital is the latest venture from the award-winning team behind Two Thirds Beer Co. on Abbeydale Road. Known for their European café-culture-inspired offering, the much-loved neighbourhood bar has gained a strong local following. This new project marks an ambitious next step, expanding their vision with a premium yet relaxed new space.
At the heart of Kapital’s offering will be four huge stainless-steel tanks, each filled weekly with unpasteurised Budvar lager delivered directly from the Czech Republic. Alongside this fresh tank beer, the venue will boast the largest selection of European beer in Sheffield city centre, a creative cocktail list, and a restaurant serving classic pan-European dishes.
The double-storey venue has been designed with atmosphere in mind. Floor-to-ceiling windows will flood the space with natural light, creating a welcoming environment throughout. A large mezzanine floor will offer panoramic views and be available for private hire, while an outdoor beer garden will provide the perfect spot for socialising during the warmer months.
With a total investment of £750,000, Kapital aims to deliver something completely new to the city—a modern take on the traditional European beer hall. Construction and fit-out is expected to take 10 weeks, with the grand opening set for this summer.
To mark the start of the build, Kapital has announced a special celebration for early supporters. An extra 1,000 free pints of tank beer will be given away, on top of the 1,500 already claimed online by eager fans.
