Leeds will soon welcome BAKE, a new concept-style bakery and café opening at Mustard Wharf, created by the team behind local favourites Doh’hut and Things in Bread. BAKE promises to elevate British bakery classics with a touch of French patisserie artistry, offering a unique experience for local food lovers.
BAKE’s menu will feature sweet and savoury pastries, breads, and sandwiches made with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. Founder Tom Stafford shared, “The whole ethos of BAKE is based on nostalgia, creating classic and much-loved sweet and savoury bakes but making them the best they’ve ever tasted. We’ll be reinventing everyday favourites and taking them to the next level whilst creating a relaxing space for people to take a moment to really enjoy every bite.”
Designed by Leeds-based firm Design Tonic, BAKE’s sleek, open-plan interior allows customers to watch pâtissiers at work and enjoy the sights and aromas of fresh baking. The café’s centrepiece, a display cabinet, showcases an array of exquisite pastries and desserts. With 30 indoor and 25 outdoor seats along the canal, BAKE offers both dine-in and takeaway options.
Matty Toole, Sales Director at Design Tonic, said, “Tom’s commitment to outstanding hospitality is evident in his passion for excellence and for creating an offering that customers come back for time and time again. It has been a real pleasure to partner with him again and to bring BAKE to life. We wish him every success with the launch.”
BAKE is set to open in early 2025. Follow @bake_leeds for updates as the launch date approaches.
