Award-winning Malmaison Hotel in Leeds is revamping its restaurant with a fresh look and an exciting new menu, setting the stage for a standout dining experience.
The Brasserie and Bar are returning to their roots with a strategic refresh, bringing back the beloved Chez Mal brand. This transformation aims to reassert its place on the Leeds restaurant scene, offering guests a contemporary twist on brasserie classics.
Chef Director John Woodward has led the charge on the revamped menu, which brings global inspiration, modern techniques, and the flavours of dishes cooked over Konro and Josper grills. These additions promise to breathe new life into familiar favourites while showcasing serious flair for modern dining.
The Chez Mal brand draws inspiration from the legendary Château Malmaison, where Napoleon and Josephine once hosted extravagant feasts. This rich history continues in Leeds, where Chez Mal offers exceptional food, inventive cocktails, and top-tier hospitality.

Whether it’s an afternoon tea, a romantic dinner, or a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, diners can expect plates made from high-quality ingredients and crafted with impressive attention to detail. For those looking for a leisurely weekend treat, the ever-popular Bottomless Brunch is available every Saturday. At £39.50, guests can enjoy a delicious main course with free-flowing Prosecco, Aperol Spritz, Mimosas, and Cruzcampo, all served in a stylish setting.

In addition, every Thursday, guests can enjoy 50% off premium steaks when ordering two courses – a great opportunity for a relaxed meal with friends, paired with expertly prepared cuts of prime grass-fed British beef.
Behind the bar, the team of expert mixologists is introducing a stylish new collection of cocktails, offering guests inventive drinks that match the creativity and energy of the restaurant.

Chez Mal, with space for 60 diners, blends a contemporary British brasserie vibe with a subtle French influence. The restaurant and bar have been revitalised, creating a brighter, warmer, and more inviting atmosphere, with refreshed décor adding a new level of comfort and style.
Sara Hargraves, General Manager at Malmaison Leeds, said: “Chez Mal isn’t just back – it’s better, bolder, and ready to lead the culinary scene in Leeds once again. Our guests can expect the same fantastic service and comfort that Malmaison Leeds and Chez Mal have always been known for, set against the backdrop of our beautifully refreshed bar and restaurant. It’s a nod to Chez Mal’s heritage but reimagined for the future.”
