Celebrating a decade of distilling in 2023 – Yorkshire’s first gin, Masons of Yorkshire, continues to delight with its range of award-winning spirits in delectable flavours. To coincide with ten years in the business, Masons of Yorkshire is debuting its most adventurous gin yet: 10 years in the making, and hundreds of recipe iterations and tastings later, the final liquid will have you taken away to sun-drenched beaches, cool summer breezes, palm trees blowing in the wind and lazy days instantly the moment you take a sip. The creator of the Masons Original Gin, Distiller Gerard Macluskey (formerly Gordon’s London Dry Gin and Tanqueray) came on board to help bring the tasty imbibe to fruition, working alongside the current Lead Distiller Rory Payne to create something exceptional.
A London Dry Gin, on the nose there is a steady, ripe and plentiful banana as a consistent note, while mellow citrus expressions of grapefruit and orange build throughout. A fusion of vibrant mango and crisp pineapple flood the palate; flourishing into sweet banana, offset by a whisper of passionfruit and light juniper. The finish is long and dry with tropical juicy fruits.
Yorkshire is known for its stunning scenery, luxury hotels and world-class foodie scene, and now Masons is putting Yorkshire on the map as a go-to destination for the most delicious hand-crafted distilled spirits too. An award-winning Masons of Yorkshire Visitors Centre is now open to the public, for distillery tours and ultra-glam cocktail evenings.
Mason’s Founder Cathy Mason says,
“It has been our dream to bring some tropical flair to Yorkshire for a while and it has taken almost ten years and hundreds of recipe iterations and attempts to distill these incredible fruits to perfection. We were delighted that one of our original collaborators Gerard Macluskey, industry expert and master distiller, came on board to help us bring this to life. We’ve finally cracked it and the resulting gin is delicious and perfect for celebrations and is the essence of long summer days. We know our customers love to mix cocktails at home and we’ve created some vibrant serves so that budding mixologists can replicate at home. What better way to celebrate ten years in the business with a tasty G&T in the sun?
RECOMMENDED SERVE – For the perfect G&T, Masons of Yorkshire recommend serving with plenty of ice and premium Indian Tonic Water. For a tropical summery taste garnish with frozen pineapple, if you prefer a drier taste try fresh mango. Cocktails developed by the expert in-house Mixology Team include a Tropical Gin Punch Cocktail, Caribbean Club or a Tortuga Iced Tea.
