Today is National Pigs in Blankets Day, a celebration founded by Farmison & Co. in 2013.

To mark the occasion, award-winning butcher Farmison & Co is launching the most luxurious pigs in blankets the world has ever seen, available from the online butcher for £150 per KG or £60 for a pack of 6.

Executive Development Chef Jeff Baker who previously held a Michelin star for over 10 years, has curated an exclusive batch of posh sausages to celebrate the National day, using the most stunning ingredients starting with the butcher’s signature free-range British pork sausages sourced from small-holding farms in North Yorkshire.

The posh hogs are then paired with fresh White Truffle from Alba in Italy’s Piedmont region. Harvested from Oct-Dec in the hills of Langhe, the sensational White Truffle is described as one of the most important jewels in the culinary calendar and a “gastronomical object of desire’, bringing its famous aroma and flavour to your Christmas table.

Adding to the sensational flavour is 20-year-old Calvados cider produced from Michel Hubert’s 200-year-old pear tree, nestled deep in the fertile lands of Pay D’auge les Vergers de la Moriniere in the South of France. Using 15 different varieties of apples (and a handful of pears) and left to mature in long old oak barrels, gives this fine cider a sweet cinnamon flavour with notes of clove spice and butterscotch.

The succulent showstopper is then wrapped in their luxury blanket of free-range dry-cured streaky bacon before being dusted with edible gold flakes to create the most opulent trimming of the festive feast. Or make a Michelin star meal of this pigs in blankets and pair with luxurious mash and Madeira sauce.

“Pigs in blankets have become synonymous with Christmas but in our opinion, they never receive the recognition they deserve,” says John Pallagi, Managing Director and co-founder of Farmison & Co. “We’re passionate about these bite-sized treats and along with our development chef Jeff Baker, we’re proving that with the right British free-range pork and expertly dry-cured bacon and some special ingredients, they can be as much the centre-piece of the Christmas meal as the turkey or goose.”

To celebrate the occasion, Farmison&Co. Is also offering new customers an offer of £10 off a £50 order with the code ROOST.
