In a stellar first month of trading, Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana has welcomed over 8,000 guests to enjoy Rudy’s authentic Neapolitan pizza at its brand new York restaurant.
Having launched in mid-July with an enticing 3,000 free pizza giveaway, the restaurant has been met with a brilliant reception from visitors and locals, adding to Rudy’s existing popularity across neighbouring restaurants in Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester.
Located on High Ousegate, the pizzeria provides a relaxed dining space, an open kitchen and a private ‘courtyard’ for up to 25 people, where visitors can wash down their pizza with a classic Italian spritz in a cosy outdoor area.
Commenting on the York restaurant’s successful launch, Neal Bates of Rudy’s Pizza, said: “The streets of York are truly iconic, we’re really proud to be a part of them and to have been made to feel so welcome in such a short space of time. We’re already seeing returning customers and familiar faces, and can’t wait to get to know even more of the York community very soon.”
Following a recent visit, popular York food influencer Ben Thorpe, aka York on a Fork commented: “It’s great to welcome Rudy’s to the York foodie scene and our experience absolutely lived up to the restaurant’s hype. Comfy space, tasty pizzas and cold beer – a brilliant addition to York’s high street.”
Born out of passion for pizza, Rudy’s follows the authentic Neapolitan tradition of pizza-making, renowned for its consistency and quality. The relaxed yet atmospheric dining concept serves classic recipes such as Marinara, Margherita and Calabrese – all originating from Naples, the birthplace of pizza – alongside paying homage to famous pizzerias around the globe with rotating specials.
Rudy’s dough is made fresh each day by their in-house pizzaioli, using Caputo ‘00’ flour, and double-fermented for 24 hours, before being topped with the highest-quality, authentic ingredients. This includes San Marzano tomatoes grown on fields at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, and traditional Fior di Latte mozzarella. Staying true to the traditions of Naples, each pizza is cooked for around 60 seconds at over 400°C – resulting in a soft and light pizza with an airy and raised ‘cornicione’ crust.
Further honouring its Neapolitan roots, Rudy’s York also hosts a well-stocked bar serving iconic Italian spritzes, crisp Italian Poretti lager, and classic stirred-cocktails.
