A major new addition to Sheffield’s food and drink scene is set to open its doors on Friday 27 June. Kapital, the city’s largest modern European-style beer hall and restaurant, will officially launch in the heart of the city centre.
Located on Wellington Street, Kapital covers 4,500 sq ft across two floors and forms part of Sheffield’s £470 million Heart of the City development.
The venue comes from the award-winning team behind Two Thirds Beer Co., known for their craft beer, food and service. With Kapital, they’re raising the bar, blending continental cuisine, fresh tank beer, cocktails and live entertainment into one all-day experience.
The space includes a lively beer garden, a stylish restaurant and a large private hire area with panoramic views. Inspired by Europe’s iconic beer halls, Kapital is designed to bring warmth, tradition and energy to Sheffield’s city centre.
At the heart of the venue is a standout drinks offering, led by four stainless-steel tanks serving fresh, unpasteurised Budvar Czech lager. Delivered weekly direct from South Bohemia, it’s a first for Sheffield.

There are 34 taps in total, offering beers from across Europe. Guests can enjoy names like Paulaner and Löwenbräu from Germany, and Belgian favourites such as Delirium and Kwak.
Alongside the beer is a full European-inspired food menu. Dishes include Oktoberfest-style roast chicken, award-winning bratwurst, Austrian schnitzel, slow-roast pork knuckle and cheese fondue. The venue also offers a dedicated kids’ menu and a Sunday roast menu for weekend visitors.
Live music will be a regular feature, with weekend sets ranging from saxophone and big band performances to DJs playing crowd-pleasing tracks.

Kapital co-founder Ben Stubbs said: “After 18 months of dedicated planning and relentless hard work, we’re incredibly proud to finally announce our opening date. Kapital will bring something totally unique to our hometown of Sheffield, from tank-fresh Czech lager and weekly big band performances to a full-scale restaurant serving up modern beer hall classics and Sunday roasts.
“It will blend the best of European beer culture with a real sense of occasion, and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests and get the party started from Friday, 27th June.”
Kapital will open seven days a week:
Monday to Thursday: 11:30am – 11pm
Friday to Saturday: 11:30am – 1:30am
Sunday: 11:30am – 1:00am
