Hundreds of beer lovers turned out to celebrate the launch of Sheffield’s newest bar and restaurant as Kapital opened its doors for the first time on Friday 27 June.
The two-storey venue on Wellington Street is Sheffield’s largest modern European-style beer hall, sitting at the heart of the city’s £470m Heart of the City development. Spread across 4,500 square feet, Kapital blends fresh tank beer, elevated continental dining, cocktails and live big band music under one roof.

The opening weekend saw the venue filled from open to close, with visitors enjoying the extensive beer list, food menu and lively atmosphere.
Four towering tanks behind the main bar hold unpasteurised Budvar Czech lager delivered direct from South Bohemia. At the same time, a total of 34 taps pour a range of carefully selected beers from across Europe. These include German favourites like Paulaner and Löwenbräu, and Belgian classics such as Delirium and Kwak.

On the food menu, diners can expect pan-European comfort dishes including roast chicken, bratwurst, schnitzel, slow-roast pork knuckle and cheese fondue, with a separate kids’ menu and weekly Sunday roasts also available.
The venue includes a large outdoor beer garden, a spacious dining area and a private upstairs space offering panoramic city views.

Ben Stubbs, co-founder of Kapital, said:
“It’s been incredible to see Kapital come to life. The response since opening has exceeded all our expectations and we are proud to have brought something truly unique to the heart of Sheffield.”
