Brighouse’s renowned fine-dining spot, Brook’s, is beginning a new chapter as sisters Alice Smith and Lily Brooke Day step into ownership. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, the duo has acquired the much-loved restaurant on Bradford Road, ensuring its legacy continues to thrive.
Originally opened in 1989, Brook’s has built a stellar reputation as one of West Yorkshire’s finest independent restaurants. Alice, who is making the leap from a 16-year career in business finance, joins forces with Lily, whose background spans both hospitality and running a successful London art gallery.
Despite the change in ownership, the new co-owners are committed to preserving the modern British menu and relaxed atmosphere that have defined Brook’s success. Diners can continue to enjoy the restaurant’s celebrated seasonal à la carte offerings, from private dining for up to 20 guests to indulgent weekend brunches and Sunday lunches.
Alice Smith said: “It’s no exaggeration to say that owning a restaurant has been a lifelong dream for both Lily and I, and we can’t believe it has now finally happened. When the opportunity became available to purchase Brook’s, we knew that we had to seize the moment. It has an excellent reputation locally and across the region, and we’ve both enjoyed dining there for many years. Our immediate focus is very much on continuing the hard work that has been put into the restaurant to date and building on the business model that has made it such a huge success for over 35 years.
“With us both having ‘Brooke’ as our maiden name, you could say it was always fate that we would one day own the restaurant.”
Yorkshire-born Head Chef Dan Maxwell, who has been with Brook’s for over five years, will continue to showcase his talent alongside his dedicated kitchen team, ensuring guests enjoy the same high standards of cuisine.
