A new gourmet meat snacking brand based in Yorkshire has won Gold and Silver in this year’s Great British Food Awards.
The Mad Butcher’s Chilli Pork Salami Snacks were awarded Gold in the Charcuterie category, with judge and renowned chef, Theo Randall, saying: “Exactly what the whole team would want if they were sitting at a bar with a pint. Good spice that we all couldn’t get enough of.”
Its Classic Salami Snacks also won Silver in the same category, with the judging team describing them as “outstanding” and “a deliciously moreish snack that’s hard to resist”.
The Mad Butcher is the latest gourmet meat snacking brand to hit the UK market and is headquartered in Leeds. Speaking about the award wins, Newby Groves, managing director of The Mad Butcher, said: “We’re delighted that our new snacks have been awarded Gold and Silver in this year’s Great British Food Awards. We launched The Mad Butcher to bring traditionally produced, premium meat snacks to UK consumers, and it’s fantastic to know that people who try our products love them so much.”
Ideal to enjoy with a drink or on a sharing board, The Mad Butcher’s premium salami sticks are smoked over beech wood before being dried and cured to give a rich, smoky flavour. Rich in protein, keto-friendly, low-carb and gluten free, the products are sold at £2.25 per 70g pack of seven meat sticks, and are currently available on Ocado and in pubs and bars across Yorkshire.
The Mad Butcher is part of Sigma Alimentos, a global food business and one of the largest producers of charcuterie in Europe.
