This summer, Weetons is celebrating 20 years since opening its first store in Harrogate.
Launched in 2005 by a group of local farmers, the business started with a simple aim: to bring the best of Yorkshire and British food to the high street. What began as a single food hall on West Park has grown into a well-known name, with a new flagship store now open on Leeds Road.
From day one, Weetons has focused on high-quality food and strong relationships. Its mix of a vibrant food hall, home and garden collection, and relaxed dining spaces has helped make it a local favourite.
“Weetons has always been about more than what’s on the shelves,” said Richard, head butcher at West Park. “It’s about relationships – with our producers, our customers, and our team. We’ve served generations of families here and are proud to be still doing what we love, 20 years on.”
Over the years, the business has picked up national awards, including Best Rural Retailer from the Countryside Alliance, and a place in the Daily Express’ “Top 100 Shops in the World.” Most recently, a team member from the West Park store received the Outstanding Customer Service of the Year award.

In 2024, Weetons opened a new chapter with the launch of its Leeds Road flagship. The site, designed with sustainability in mind, brings together the full Weetons experience:
- A larger food hall offering local produce, store-made meals, and specialist butchery, deli, and bakery counters
- A home and garden section, including a wide range of indoor and outdoor plants selected by an experienced horticultural team
- A restaurant serving seasonal dishes made with ingredients from the food hall
- Two cafés – the Terrace Café and The Snug – both dog-friendly and stocked with items from the delicatessen and patisserie
- A private hire space for events, from weddings to community meetups
The new store has already won RIBA Regional and Sustainability Awards. More importantly, it has quickly become part of the daily routine for many locals.
“Being part of Weetons for over a decade, I’ve seen first-hand how much love and care goes into everything we do,” said Jess Upson, store manager at West Park. “It’s not just a store, it’s a community. As we celebrate 20 years, I feel incredibly proud to have grown with a brand that truly values its people and its purpose.”
To mark the occasion, Weetons is hosting a summer of celebrations. Customers can look forward to tastings, giveaways, special offers, and in-store events.
Locals are invited to stop by, join in, and help toast 20 years of food, service, and community.
