With around one in 100 people affected by coeliac disease, and a number of other conditions requiring a gluten-free diet, it’s estimated that 10 per cent of UK consumers follow a diet free of gluten*.
With this week marking Coeliac UK’s Awareness Week (9th – 15th May), the Wensleydale Creamery, based in Hawes in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, has launched a brand-new Gluten Free Hamper, to sit alongside its existing gluten-free offering to recognise the growing need for it within the market.
Free from gluten, but packed with delicious flavours, the new hamper includes three classic waxed cheese truckles, including the classic creamy, crumbly Yorkshire Wensleydale, Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries and Fountains Gold Cheddar. The selection also features some perfectly paired accompaniments, all handpicked to enhance the flavours of the artisan cheese, such as sticky Fruit Chutney, made by fellow Yorkshire artisans Rosebud Preserves, water crackers and deliciously moreish oat crumbles.
The Gluten Free Hamper ensures no one needs to feel left out when putting together the perfect afternoon treat, evening with friends or gifting the food lover in your life.
The artisan cheesemaker also has a number of other options available in their online deli for those following a gluten-free diet , including its Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese Box, ‘Something for Everyone’ Cheese Box, Yorkshire Wensleydale and Chutney Gift Set and the Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries and Chutney Gift Box, all featuring delicious artisan handcrafted cheese alongside beautifully paired accompaniments.
In addition to its ecommerce offering, the Wensleydale Creamery continues to cater for this growing market with a number of gluten-free options available on the menu at its Visitor Centre in Hawes.
Emily-Jane Smith Cummins, Ecommerce Manager at the Wensleydale Creamery, commented: “We’ve seen an increase of people looking for delicious, gluten-free gifting options, so we launched our new Gluten Free Hamper in response to customer demand. There is increasingly more awareness for coeliac disease and people following a gluten-free diet, and we want to ensure that we continue to offer something for everyone by continually reviewing and expanding our range.
“For anyone with dietary requirements, we understand how much it can impact certain elements of life, and we firmly believe that people’s choice and access to certain products shouldn’t be hampered by this – it’s all about making things as easy as possible for our customers.”
