Yorkshire Potato Vodka Celebrates a Successful First Year with New Stockists

North Yorkshire’s Nine Tines vodka, a multi-award-winning handcrafted small-batch potato vodka, is celebrating its first anniversary with a slew of new stockists and big ambitions for the future.

Not only has the vodka won three major quality awards this year – Global Vodka Masters, IWSC Spirits Awards and Great Taste – it is also now being featured in a range of premium Yorkshire hospitality venues including Pipe & GlassSwinton EstateBowcliffe HallMiddleton Lodge Estate’s Forge and Coach House and The Bay Horse.

It is proud to have partnered with a number of Yorkshire independent retailers including Mainsgil Farm ShopRabby CastleLishmann’s of IlkleyThorpe Farm Shop Barnard Castle and On The Table Hampers.

Only 225 bottles of Nine Tines are produced per batch which makes it extra special. Rather than being made from mass-produced neutral grain spirit bases, which are then flavoured with fruit or botanicals, Nine Tines is meticulously crafted by hand from scratch from Lady Claire potatoes cultivated in the rich soils of North Yorkshire.

This dedication to quality and provenance gives Nine Tines a rich, creamy texture with a smooth and subtle sweetness that you only get from potatoes.

Nine Tines co-founder Richard Smith said: It has been an amazing 12 months; it is hard to believe that we only launched a year ago. We have all worked so hard and dedicated so much time to Nine Tines because we believe we have created something truly special.  We stand head and shoulders above other spirits brands in terms of our authenticity and commitment to provenance – we make it from scratch!”

The vodka is the result of a collaboration between two families who have profound connections to the North Yorkshire landscape and its rich soil, its traditions and the belief in provenance, sustainability and biodiversity.

Helen Westgarth co-founder at Nine Tines said: “This year has been a huge learning curve for all of us but we’re incredibly proud about what we have created. Our vodka really is a labour of love from planting, caring for and harvesting the potatoes on our farm, to the peeling, dicing and cooking of hundreds of kilos of potatoes to the final distillation process and bottling. We manage the whole process.”

Richard Smith adds: “Our first year has been about building the foundations but the second year will be really exciting, full of new challenges and amazing opportunities as we widen our reach beyond Yorkshire.”

The smooth grain and gluten-free vodka is carefully hand-crafted from field to bottle – nine miles from field to distillery – using pure Yorkshire spring water. It is painstakingly distilled 30 times over copper plates before being filtered slowly through charcoal for five days. This produces a perfectly balanced smooth and creamy vodka.

Nine Tines is a premium Yorkshire handcrafted potato vodka which features up to 40 Lady Claire potatoes in each bottle, grown on a fourth-generation farm in the heart of North Yorkshire. It takes more than two weeks to carefully handcraft and distil each bottle.

The vodka is beautifully presented in sustainable packaging and makes a wonderful gift. Nine Tines (40% ABV), retails for £42 (70cl) and can be purchased on: Nine Tines Vodka website.
