Police have reported that a man threw a pair of ferrets at a car whilst on a vandalism spree in Harrogate.
On Monday night, members of the public in Harrogate managed to restrain a suspect after 12 vehicles were damages.
North Yorkshire police said that a ferret box was used to hit cars, smashing windows and as well as causing dents and scratches.
The BBC Reported ”A 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and animal cruelty offences remains in custody.
Two ferrets are now in the care of the RSPCA.”
The man, who has no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
A police spokesperson said “We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, and ask for any victims who haven’t already come forward to contact North Yorkshire Police.
“This would have been a very disturbing and alarming incident to those who witnessed it, and we are keen to speak to anyone who has information that could assist the investigation.”
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “Happily, the ferrets appear to be in good condition and we are taking them to suitable boarding facilities where they will be cared for and put up for rehoming in due course.”
