Giving the Gift of Storage: 20 Shipping Containers Donated to Local Charities
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ace Containers are giving away 20 shipping containers to good causes around Leeds, with the assistance of Sean Bell from Spacewise. The company has launched this amazing initiative to celebrate 20 years in business. The shipping container company specialises in container sales and hire and has grown to have several hundred containers nationwide since forming the business in 2000.

It’s not the first time Ace Containers have given away containers to help those in need. Past beneficiaries include The Valley Project, Kidz Klub, The Real Junk Food Project, St Georges Crypt and Homeless Street Angels who all use their containers for additional storage and CATCH who are turning theirs into an audio/visual suite.

Ash from CATCH, a registered charity based in Leeds which stands for ‘Community Action to Create Hope’ said: “Thanks to Sean at Ace Containers for donating us two shipping containers which we will be using for much-needed storage as we are running out of space. Sean also supported us with custom fabrication, refurbishment, painting and delivery of the containers.

“Sean stated this was a small gesture for Ace Containers, however to us it’s a pretty huge gesture. We saved approximately £3000, maybe even more… this means we didn’t have to find those funds from elsewhere. The funds saved can be put into our core running costs and supporting young people. Businesses can do so much to help small charities like us grow. It’s acts of kindness like the above that make it easier for us.”

Sean Birdsall, Director of Ace Containers, and John Hanson, Co-Director, are keen to help local charities like CATCH who play a part in helping the community – something which both Sean and John feel passionate about. Every child should be supported, and every area of need should be given opportunities for change. Helping the local community is one of the great privileges of running a company; donating and volunteering is something that Sean thinks gives the whole team at Ace Containers an active interest in their role.

Sean explains more about Ace Containers and their initiative: “This is the twentieth anniversary of Ace Containers inception. With the assistance of Spacewise, we are giving away 20 shipping containers to local good causes. We want this initiative to not just be a giveaway, but we want to be able to form long term commitments with the groups that we are assisting. Preferably we would like them to come from the Leeds area, but we will happily consider any application.

“In the last five years, we have assisted quite a few local groups in getting space or using space on our site. We think that it’s a moral obligation that we help where we can. The country is becoming a dark selfish place with many of the local support services being eradicated, its everyone’s responsibility to ensure the most vulnerable in our society are looked after.”

If you’d like to be considered for a free container to be used as a space for your cause, then please contact the team at Ace Containers today. You can get in touch via their website or call 0113 277 5663.
