Image Appeal Over Violent Cashpoint Robbery in Leeds.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to identify over a violent cashpoint robbery in Leeds.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, was using a cash machine at West Point, in Wellington Street, when he was approached by a suspect who demanded his wallet.

He refused and was attacked and knocked unconscious. The suspect then searched him and stole his wallet.

The victim’s friend, also aged 24, chased after the suspect who then produced a hammer and hit him before running off along Whitehall Road towards Holbeck.

Both men were treated at hospital for bruising and swelling following the incident, which occurred shortly after 2am on Saturday, October 12.

An attempt was later made to use the victim’s bank card and the suspect was filmed on CCTV.

Anyone who recognises him or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District Crime Team via 101 quoting crime reference 13190523713 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
