The team at Amazon’s Doncaster warehouse came together to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a garden party celebration at the iPort site.
More than 380 employees attended the event, which featured garden games, party food, a hot drinks stand and a photobooth. The celebration brought colleagues together to reflect on a key moment in history while enjoying some time away from the shop floor.
Hannah Hawkes, Interim Site Leader at Amazon Doncaster, said:
“As an employer of ex-military people, we were proud to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with our team. It was a fantastic event to commemorate an important moment and I’m glad the team at Amazon in Doncaster was able to come together for the celebration.”

The event is one of several ways Amazon supports a culture of inclusion and community across its sites. The company runs 13 employee-led groups, known as employee resource groups, that help build connections among staff and promote diversity in the workplace. These include Warriors at Amazon, the Black Employee Network, People with Disabilities, and Women at Amazon.
Warriors at Amazon is open to current and former members of the military, reservists, military spouses, their families and allies. The group supports veterans in their transition to civilian life, organises outreach projects and provides a professional network for members of the armed forces community within the business.
Amazon is also a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, which it first signed in 2013. The covenant aims to ensure that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly and have access to the same services as the wider population.
