The Super Soapbox Challenge is back in Bradford on Sunday, 4th May. The event, which has become a key part of the city’s calendar, invites teams to design and race their own soapbox carts down a giant ramp through the city centre.
Participants will compete for the fastest lap time, along with prizes for Most Innovative Cart Design and Best Turned-Out Crew. Previous designs have included themes like superheroes and hamburgers.
Jonny Noble, Chief Executive of Bradford BID, commented, “The Bradford Super Soapbox Challenge brings thousands of people into the heart of Bradford, boosting footfall for shops, cafés, and restaurants. This year, as we celebrate Bradford’s City of Culture, it’s a great chance to highlight the city’s offerings and the improvements to the city centre.”

The event is free for spectators, while entry fees for teams are £100 for individuals, BID-levy paying businesses, and charities, or £200 for non-levy paying corporate entries.
Andrew Pearson, Marketing Director for the event, said, “It’s great to return to Bradford for a fourth year! Whether it’s your first time or you’re a returning team, the event is all about fun, team spirit, and supporting good causes.”
Alongside the races, there will be live music and activities, including a flight simulator by Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
