A much-loved country show held in Cullingworth each year has reached a significant fundraising milestone for a local hospice.
After a two-year enforced break due to COVID-19, the Bronte Vintage Gathering made an exciting return to the village earlier this month, with thousands of families enjoying the wide range of activities and attractions on offer – from dog agility and birds of prey displays, to clay pigeon shooting, trade and craft stalls, two evenings of entertainment in the beer tent and a nail-biting display from motocross riders Broke FMX.
And it has been announced today that the 2022 weekend spectacular raised an incredible £58,000 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, which provides expert palliative care and support to local people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.
This is the Bronte Vintage Gathering’s most successful year to-date, and brings the total raised for the hospice since the event started more than 20 years ago to over £500,000.
The organisers came together to present a cheque to the hospice on Thursday 26th May and in recognition of their achievements, the committee were presented with an engraved award to mark their fundraising milestone.
Hayley Ibbotson, Senior Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, said: “It’s so special to see the Bronte Vintage Gathering reach this major fundraising milestone. I know it takes a monumental effort from the committee and their team of helpers to deliver this two-day event and I can’t thank them enough for returning after the pandemic with their usual passion and dedication, which has resulted in this incredible donation.
“The Bronte Vintage Gathering is a hugely important annual fundraiser for us and we’re so grateful to be the beneficiaries. I’d like to congratulate everyone involved for helping us continue to provide the expert and compassionate palliative care we are so well-known for in the local community.”
