A by-election will take place on Thursday 19th June for the Eastfield division of North Yorkshire Council, following the resignation of councillor Tony Randerson.
The nomination window for candidates opens at 10am on Wednesday 14th May and closes at 4pm on Thursday 22nd May. Anyone interested in standing must submit their completed nomination forms within that time frame.
Residents who wish to vote in the by-election must be registered by midnight on Tuesday 3rd June. Applications for a postal vote must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 4th June, while proxy vote applications are open until 5pm on Wednesday 11th June.
Voters heading to polling stations on 19th June will need to show photographic ID to cast their vote. Accepted ID includes a UK or Northern Ireland driving licence (full or provisional), a UK passport, or a passport issued by the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the Isle of Man, or the Channel Islands. Certain travel passes, such as a blue badge or older person’s bus pass, are also valid.
Expired ID will still be accepted as long as the photo remains a clear likeness.
Anyone without a recognised form of ID can apply for a free voter authority certificate by 5pm on Wednesday 11th June.
