Families across Yorkshire are getting ready to don their capes for the return of the SNAPS Superhero Challenge – an inclusive, accessible fun run for children of all abilities – on Sunday 29th June 2025.
Held at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds, the event invites children to take on their own superhero challenge by choosing a distance to complete on the 400-metre athletics track. Whether they’re walking, running, wheeling or being pushed in a buggy, every child will be cheered across the finish line and awarded a medal and goodie bag.

The Superhero Challenge is run by Leeds-based charity SNAPS, which supports children with additional needs and their families through physiotherapy and play. All funds raised from the event will go towards this work. SNAPS doesn’t receive government funding and relies on community support to keep its services running.
The day promises more than just a lap around the track. Activities include a superhero meet and greet, face painting, a bouncy castle, a silent disco and inclusive sports with Leeds United Foundation and Leeds Rhinos Foundation coaches. Families can also explore fire and police vehicles, enjoy sensory play and get creative with crafts.

Four-year-old Imaan Shanahan and her mum Dominique, will be taking part in this year’s event. Imaan, who was born with a rare chromosome condition that affects her muscle tone, has received physiotherapy and support from SNAPS since she was 18 months old.
Dominique says the charity has been life-changing: “Thanks to SNAPS, Imaan took her very first steps at four years old – an unforgettable moment. Being part of this community has given us hope, strength and a real sense of belonging. We’re so excited to be joining the Superhero Challenge for the first time to say thank you and raise support for other families like ours.”
The event is supported by sponsors Irwin Mitchell, Wade’s Charity and Taylor Wimpey.
Registration is free for families who raise £47 or more in sponsorship, which covers the cost of one physiotherapy session. Alternatively, tickets are £12 per child, with adults going free.
The SNAPS Superhero Challenge takes place from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm on Sunday 29th June at John Charles Centre for Sport.
