Award-winning Leeds singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae will return to The Wardrobe for two intimate trio shows this August, celebrating the venue’s 25th birthday. Rae, once a familiar face at The Wardrobe’s cloakroom and on stage, brings her global success back to her roots, embodying the spirit of the venue’s rich history.
Joining her, indie-rock icons The Vaccines will take to the 400-capacity room for a rare two-night residency. Known for arena and festival performances, The Vaccines offer fans an up-close experience fresh off their global tour supporting their sixth studio album, “Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations.”
These special performances are part of The Wardrobe’s anniversary events, featuring artists like Gossip, Jacob Collier, and Jordan Rakei. The venue, a beloved launchpad for grassroots comedy, also welcomes back comedians Jamali Maddix, Lou Sanders, and Paul Foot with new material.
Amidst the excitement, The Wardrobe’s bar will close mid-August for a mini-refurbishment, featuring an impressive beer selection from Leeds’ Kirkstall Brewery and Camden Town Brewery. The bar reopens in late August with a new kitchen and food offerings, culminating in a massive birthday bash on Friday, 20th September.
The Wardrobe celebrates its 25th birthday all year with giveaways, including a free pint for the first 25 visitors on the last Friday of every month in 2024. Since opening in 1999 in Leeds’ cultural quarter, The Wardrobe has hosted stars like Amy Winehouse and Lewis Capaldi, becoming a cornerstone of the city’s hospitality and cultural scene.
