Harrogate Christmas Fayre Set to Return This December With Strong Public Support

Harrogate is set to welcome back its popular Christmas Fayre this December, bringing festive cheer, shopping and seasonal treats to the town centre.

Running from 5 to 14 December 2025, the fayre will once again be organised by Market Place, with support from North Yorkshire Council and Harrogate BID. The event has grown steadily since its launch in 2021 and has become a highlight of the region’s festive calendar.

Last year’s fayre received strong backing from both the public and local businesses. According to a survey carried out by Harrogate BID, 79 per cent of respondents supported the fayre and the wider Christmas offer, with 81 per cent praising the stall locations and overall festive atmosphere.

The town centre will be filled with traditional-style chalets selling a wide range of gifts, food and drink. Alongside the main fayre, the Little Bird Christmas Artisan Market will return to Valley Gardens for two weekends (6–7 and 13–14 December), offering more opportunities for visitors to shop local and discover handmade items.

The Candy Cane Express Road Train is also set to return, helping visitors get around town during the fayre’s opening hours.

North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for open to business, Cllr Mark Crane, said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting the Harrogate Christmas Fayre. Events like this bring significant benefits for businesses at a crucial time in the calendar, drawing people into town centres and encouraging festive breaks in North Yorkshire.”

Harrogate BID’s chief executive, Matthew Chapman, added: “We received some really positive responses about last year’s fayre. As the BID, we’re committed to listening to the voices of local businesses and working with partners to keep improving the Christmas offer in our town.”

Data from recent years shows the fayre has helped drive up visitor numbers and hotel stays in Harrogate, highlighting its growing reputation as a festive destination.

North Yorkshire Council’s head of tourism, Tony Watson, said: “Events like the Harrogate Christmas Fayre bring our town centres to life and encourage people to stay longer and explore more of what the county has to offer.”
