Hickory’s Smokehouse Opening New Restaurant in Yorkshire

West Yorkshire foodies are in for treat as the much talked about new Hickory’s Smokehouse opens three days ahead of schedule.

The Southern style smokehouse is opening its first restaurant in Yorkshire and the team say they are “beyond excited” and can’t wait to show guests what they have done with the former Malt House on Bennett Avenue in Horbury.

Managing Director John Welsh said: “We have been itching to come over the Pennines for some time now and have spent many years looking for the perfect site in Yorkshire. We loved Horbury the minute we visited and have had so much support from the local community. We cannot wait to welcome them all to our first Yorkshire restaurant and hopefully convert a whole host of new fans to all things BBQ!”

So, what can you expect?

The definition of a family friendly restaurant and neighbourhood bar, Hickory’s are known for their legendary welcome and super-authentic BBQ classics and their commitment to creating a welcoming hub for the whole community goes way beyond the design of the building.

Continuing the company’s commitment of bringing guests ‘a true slice of ‘Southern Style’ hospitality’ the new restaurant has undergone an impressive refurbishment both inside and out, with every aspect of the site reimagined.

The whole family has been thought of at Hickory’s Horbury with dining for up to 150 guests, including a range of seating from cosy booths to larger tables for groups to enjoy, with an open kitchen and Chef’s bar (possibly the best seat in the house). Inspired by a trip to South Carolina there’s a sheltered veranda for drinking and dining outside, plus additional seating in the garden sheltered in grain silo style structures complete with cosy log burners.

You’ll find a cool ‘Fro-Co’ or Frozen Custard station for kids to get creative and there’s a specially designed kids cinema, complete with real cinema seats and an ever changing array of films. Outside there’s a dedicated children’s play area that promises to keep the little ones entertained.

What’s on the menu?

The delicious menu is packed full of the flavours of the deep South with classic smokehouse dishes such as ribs, brisket and pulled pork all smoked low ‘n’ slow in their Ole Hickory smokers plus a range of more traditional options including steaks, burgers and a selection of meat-free options. If brunch is your thing, get ready for piles of fluffy pancakes, crispy bacons, waffles and lashings of maple syrup all washed down with a range of specially designed smoothies or bottomless coffee.

The specially created kids menu has been specially created with a team of Mums, Dads and kids so it contains just the right balance of treats, healthy options and fun! And let’s not forget a huge variety of quirky desserts (don’t miss the Campfire Marshmallows for sheer entertainment value) and the most incredible cocktail and milkshake menu for miles.

The independent group behind the restaurant, who recently topped a poll of the ‘best large companies to work for in the UK’, say they have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from the local community.

Hickory’s General Manager Adam Mitchell said: ‘The team are beyond excited to open. All the training and our practice nights have been leading to this moment and we just can’t wait to start welcoming our guests for real, so come and say ‘Hi’ and check out the full Hickory’s experience for yourself.’

With super-generous portion sizes, lip-smacking flavour combinations and more Southern classics than you can handle, our advice is, come hungry and get ready to fall in love with the authentic tastes of the southern states. Food is served from 11am until late every day and you can catch the brilliant brunch every 11am from 2pm.

STOP PRESS: Hickory’s Smokehouse Horbury will be open from 4pm Friday 11th March and then from 11am seven days a week.
