Emilie Heald, 29, from Hornsea, East Yorkshire, is set to cap off an extraordinary year of fundraising as she approaches the final event in her ten-challenge campaign. She has raised nearly £20,000 for cancer charities. Emilie, who has been cancer-free for a decade after overcoming Ewing’s Sarcoma, will host a Charity Ball on December 14th at The Deep in Hull, inviting the public to celebrate her milestone and continue supporting young cancer patients.
Diagnosed at 17, Emilie underwent intensive treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, stem cell harvesting, and multiple surgeries. Now a first-class Psychology graduate and executive assistant at her family’s manufacturing business, Heald, she has turned her journey into a powerful platform for fundraising and awareness.
This year, Emilie tackled ten physical challenges—one for each year of remission—including the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, the Great North Run, and a 57-mile charity swim. She also organised ongoing drives for blood donations and charity shop collections, all while exceeding her original fundraising target of £10,000 by almost doubling it.
“This year has been incredible and the initiative has grown beyond anything I could have imagined,” said Emilie. “Each challenge brought new friends and unexpected support, even from those who weren’t directly involved. These events have shown me how much people care and are willing to rally behind a cause affecting many.”
Supporters have also contributed through their own challenges, from mountain climbs to half-marathons, adding to the fundraising total.
The final event, Emilie’s Charity Ball, promises to be a memorable evening with a three-course dinner, welcome drinks, live music, and a charity auction. Auction prizes include a Hull City F.C. shirt, festival tickets, holiday stays, and annual gym memberships. Tickets are priced at £125 per person and are available now.
Proceeds from Emilie’s efforts will support a range of organisations, including The Little Princess Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust, Make-A-Wish, Bone Cancer Research Trust, Young Lives vs Cancer, Cancer Research UK, Ward 94 at St. James’s Hospital in Leeds, and The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham.
