A brand-new hotel is set to open its doors in the heart of Leeds this summer, bringing with it a stylish Mediterranean restaurant, a nod to the city’s industrial heritage, and over 60 new jobs. Hotel Indigo Leeds, located on Lower Briggate, will launch following a multi-million-pound investment and will include 107 bedrooms, two meeting rooms and a 24/7 fitness centre.
The hotel will be joined by The Banksia, an all-day dining bar and restaurant inspired by the sun-soaked flavours of the Mediterranean. Located just a short walk from Leeds train station and the city’s main shopping streets, the site aims to be a new go-to for both visitors and locals alike.

Simon Grace, General Manager at Hotel Indigo Leeds, said: “We can’t wait to welcome the communities in and around Leeds in what is sure to be an exciting addition to Leeds city centre this summer. We pride ourselves on creating an inviting, vibrant space that guests can enjoy, with personal service throughout their stay, that makes them feel instantly at home.”
The hotel’s rooms have been designed to reflect Leeds’ rich industrial past, with colourful artwork, modern details and unexpected touches that encourage guests to explore the city further. It will be the 20th Hotel Indigo opened by IHG Hotels & Resorts in the UK and will follow the group’s sustainability goals through its Journey to Tomorrow initiative. This will be seen in everything from energy-efficient lighting to improved waste management.

Downstairs, The Banksia is set to make a splash with its Mediterranean-style menu that celebrates fresh, local ingredients and a vibrant mix of cultures. Whether you are after a quiet dinner with friends, after-work drinks or a larger group meal, The Banksia has been designed to suit any occasion.
“Bringing a taste of the sun-soaked Mediterranean, The Banksia bar and restaurant will become the perfect hub for after work drinks, or to wine, dine and dance the night away. Whether people are looking for a private small plates meal with friends, or a large à la carte dining experience, The Banksia perfectly caters for it all,” said Simon Grace.

“Signature Mediterranean flavours paired with fresh, simple, local ingredients will be brought to life by a team of talented chefs, and it’s just what Leeds needs to welcome the summer in style.”
The hotel is owned by Belfont Hotels. Its Director, Keval Thakerar, said: “Leeds is such a thriving city, and we can’t wait to become a part of it. We’re excited to throw open the doors and welcome our first guests to the brand-new site. Every Hotel Indigo is different, and this applies to our Leeds site, as we capture the essence of the city’s neighbourhood through unique touches.”
With an opening planned for this summer, Hotel Indigo Leeds and The Banksia are already shaping up to be a bright new addition to the city centre, blending local pride with global inspiration in every detail.
