Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has officially opened its brand-new terminal today, marking the completion of the first phase of a £100 million upgrade project.
From now on, all passengers arriving at or departing from LBA will use the new terminal, which has been designed to offer smoother journeys and better facilities. The expansion supports the airport’s goal to enhance customer service and strengthen regional connections.
The new space brings a modern arrivals process, including a redesigned baggage reclaim area and updated passport control with advanced security systems. Travellers will also benefit from more comfort, with 83% more seating and clear views of the runway.
There are more food and drink options too, giving passengers a wider choice before take-off. For those looking to unwind, two premium lounges are now available. One of them is the newly launched Six Eight One Premium Lounge, which offers a quiet space with seasonal menus made from local produce.

CEO Vincent Hodder said: “We are delighted to see our new terminal extension open and operational today. It has been an incredible journey to get here, and we know our customers are going to get a completely new experience from LBA from today.”
Commercial Director John Cunliffe added: “Today is a huge milestone for Leeds Bradford Airport. Our new terminal is officially open and ready to welcome passengers, offering improved facilities and enabling us to deliver an enhanced experience.”
Work on Phase 2 is already under way. This part of the project focuses on refurbishing the existing terminal and further improving infrastructure. Passengers using the airport during this time will notice some changes. These include hoardings and scaffolding at the terminal front, a new location for Meet & Greet parking, and altered bus zones.
LBA will keep travellers updated through a dedicated webpage as work continues.
Once the full LBA:REGEN project is complete in 2026, the airport will have significantly more space and capacity:
- 38% more floorspace
- 76% more retail space
- 83% more seating
- 77% more luggage reclaim capacity
- 50% more security lanes
The changes reflect LBA’s long-term investment in making the airport experience better for passengers across the region.
