The Martin House Glitter Ball, hosted at Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, raised an impressive £215,000 for the hospice’s THE BUILD appeal—a £21.9 million project to expand and refurbish its facilities.
The glamorous event, led by TV presenter Christine Talbot and attended by former England football manager Gareth Southgate, brought together hundreds of guests for an evening of dining, dancing, and auctions. The funds raised will support the crucial work Martin House does for children and families across Yorkshire.
Clair Holdsworth, Chief Executive of Martin House, reflected on the event’s success, saying, “The Glitter Ball is a vital event for us, and the generosity of our supporters has helped us achieve a record total. We can’t thank everyone enough for their help.”
The evening also saw Emma and Dixie from Heart FM engaging guests with fundraising games. A particularly touching moment came from Jack Harrison, whose son Thomas uses the hospice, as he spoke about the difference Martin House makes: “Martin House is a lifeline for me and my family. The care they provide is second to none, a support we rely on. I hope anyone who is able to will support THE BUILD to ensure the facilities match the exceptional care offered to us and other families.”
HARIBO UK and Ireland, the event’s headline sponsor, contributed to the night’s success. Jon Hughes, managing director, said, “We are proud to support Martin House’s fundraisers, and the Glitter Ball is the biggest event in its calendar. This year, we’ve helped raise £215,000, which will make a real difference to children and families across Yorkshire. We already look forward to next year’s event!”
The event also received support from sponsors including KPP Architects, Nicolla’s Florist, Tick Tock Nursery, and Berry’s Jewellers, who donated an 18ct diamond necklace for the Ellie’s Gems Game.
