Mexborough Business Centre in South Yorkshire has raised £2,000 to support the vital work of the Children’s Air Ambulance, thanks to a simple but effective idea — selling second-hand books.
The Centre, which provides fully serviced office spaces, created a charity bookshelf in its reception area. Staff filled it with donated books of all genres, offering them for just 50p each. Over the past few years, 4,000 books have been sold, with all proceeds going to the charity.
Jude Rogers, Reception Manager at the Business Centre, said:
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by everyone in the local community who has purchased one of the books and helped to raise a phenomenal amount for a worthy charity.”
The Children’s Air Ambulance provides rapid transport for critically ill babies and children across the UK. Operating specially equipped helicopters, it works closely with NHS teams to transfer young patients to hospitals for specialist care.

Cherry Crane, Community Fundraising Assistant at the charity, said:
“We would like to say a big thank you to Jude and everyone involved at the Mexborough Business Centre for raising an incredible amount to support our lifesaving missions for critically ill babies and children across the UK.”
She added that every penny helps the charity continue its vital work and expressed hope for further collaboration in the future.
