A new ride-sharing app promising a safer, more transparent experience for both passengers and drivers has officially launched in Yorkshire.
Named Frenzi, the app introduces a range of features designed to improve how people book and experience taxi travel, with particular attention paid to safety and control for all users.
Frenzi is the creation of Selby-born entrepreneur Stephen Clark. Drawing on his experience in late-night hospitality, Stephen set out to design a service that would offer not just convenience, but peace of mind for vulnerable passengers, women travelling at night, and drivers alike.
“There are around 345,000 licensed taxis and private hire vehicles in the UK, and our long-term vision is to make this mode of travel safer and fairer for everyone,” said Stephen. “Whether it’s a vulnerable passenger, a woman seeking safety at night, a parent keeping tabs on their kids, or a driver wanting more control and security, Frenzi is designed to deliver peace of mind.”

Frenzi’s standout features include female driver and passenger preferences, which allow women to choose who they travel with. A ‘preferred driver’ list lets passengers rebook trusted drivers, while the ‘family association’ tool allows linked accounts to monitor journeys in real-time.
Additional safety measures in development include an emergency SOS button, verified driver profiles with background checks, live ride tracking for friends or family, and notifications for drivers when a passenger has a disability or additional need such as anxiety, sight or hearing impairment.
The app also aims to bring fairer pricing to the ride-sharing market. It avoids surge pricing and hidden fees, and gives drivers more of their earnings by charging fixed low fees. Frenzi also plans to reward drivers who use eco-friendly vehicles, supporting greener travel.
“We’re also committed to better pricing for passengers and drivers,” said Stephen. “Research from 2018 showed Leeds was the second most expensive UK city for taxi travel, and we’re here to change that.”
The app is now available across Yorkshire, with plans to expand into other UK cities, including Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and London over the next year.
“We’re set to revolutionise tech-enabled taxi travel, and we’re thrilled to launch Frenzi in Yorkshire,” Stephen added. “We look forward to helping thousands of customers and drivers access better, fairer, and safer travel across the region and beyond as our vision continues to unfold.”
