The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards (YCCA) has opened nominations for its 2025 ceremony, inviting people to recognise young individuals across the region who demonstrate outstanding courage, resilience, and determination.
Since its launch in 2011, the YCCA has become a highlight of Yorkshire’s social calendar. The awards celebrate children and young people up to the age of 18 who face significant challenges yet continue to inspire those around them. The event also raises funds for numerous charities supported by the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation.
This year’s awards will be bigger than ever, with seven categories open for nominations. Whether a young person is overcoming life-limiting conditions, raising funds for a cause, achieving personal or sporting milestones, or caring for others, their story could be recognised. There is also a category for children’s charities that have made a real difference to young lives across Yorkshire.

Last year’s event celebrated ten incredible young winners, including five-year-old Freddie Macdonald, who received the ‘Dare to Dream’ award, created in memory of the late Rob Burrow, the Leeds Rhinos legend and MND campaigner. Candlelighters, a Leeds-based charity, was named Children’s Charity of the Year.
The 2025 awards ceremony will take place on 10 October at New Dock Hall. The evening promises to be an uplifting celebration of courage, featuring inspiring stories alongside music and entertainment.
