After a year’s pause, the North Yorkshire County Show is set to make a grand return on Sunday, June 15, promising an exciting day packed with traditional rural festivities, family fun, and community spirit. The much-loved event will be hosted at Otterington Hall in Northallerton, welcoming an expected crowd of up to 8,000 visitors.
Last year’s cancellation due to a shortage of volunteers left a gap in the local calendar, but the community has since rallied with renewed enthusiasm and a fresh committee determined to bring back the show’s proud heritage. The North Yorkshire County Show traces its roots back to 1840, making its return not just a celebration of agriculture but a revival of a longstanding community tradition.
Mark Hall, Chair of the show, expressed his excitement: “After the disappointment of not going ahead last year, there is real passion from everyone involved to ensure the show returns, and in style. The volume of messages I’ve received from people thrilled the show is back has been incredible.”
This year’s event, supported by main sponsors H&H Insurance Brokers, features an action-packed line-up including livestock judging for sheep and cattle, heavy and light horse competitions, and a farrier demonstration. Animal lovers will enjoy the dancing sheep at The Sheep Show, a fun dog show, and a dog scurry open to all.
Visitors can also look forward to craft and baking competitions, a children’s funfair, vintage tractor and classic car displays, and a bustling local food and craft marquee. Emergency service displays from the fire and rescue service and the police will add to the day’s excitement, alongside numerous trade stands offering something for everyone.

Corinne Cooper from H&H Insurance Brokers commented, “It’s brilliant to see such an important community event making its return. We’re proud to sponsor the show and are looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic day.”
The North Yorkshire County Show’s return builds on the recent success of the inaugural Northallerton Christmas Tractor Parade, also organised by the show committee and supported by H&H Insurance Brokers, highlighting the strong community spirit that continues to drive the region’s agricultural traditions.
With so much on offer, the North Yorkshire County Show 2025 promises to be a memorable occasion for families, farmers, and enthusiasts alike. Doors open at 8.30am, and the event welcomes all to join in the celebration of rural life and local heritage.
