Libraries across North Yorkshire are stepping up to help residents apply for bus passes, responding to an increased demand for assistance with online applications. Nine libraries across the county are now offering regular sessions where staff and volunteers provide one-to-one support for people applying for either older persons or disabled persons bus passes.
North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for libraries, Cllr Simon Myers, explained the importance of this new initiative: “Navigating the bus pass application process can be challenging, especially for those who are not familiar with online forms or who may need additional support. Our libraries are here to help, providing step-by-step guidance to ensure that every resident can successfully complete their application.”
The support sessions are designed to offer personalised assistance, with the hope that all eligible residents will be able to apply for and receive their bus passes, as well as improve their digital skills along the way. “I hope people will take up this opportunity to get a bus pass and use it to experience some of the wonderful places across North Yorkshire,” said Cllr Myers.
Weekly sessions will be available at:

- Knaresborough Library: Mondays, 2pm – 3pm
