A parish Councillor has challenged Sheffield’s Lord Mayor Magid Magid to a fight in a town hall meeting.
Independent Councillor on High Green parish council, David Ogle said he wanted to spend three rounds in a boxing ring with the mayor and said he would “go easy on him”.
Although, it’s not quite as aggressive as you may think…
Ogle is trying to raise Sheffield Council’s support for a community boxing gym at High Green and he invited the Mayor to visit and help set it up.
Mr Ogle said “These type of gyms have been shown to reduce crime and improve quality of life for people.
“I’m asking the Lord Mayor to come to High Green and do a three-round boxing match with me in the spirit of sportsmanship.
“I’m an independent on the parish council so there are quite a few people at the Town Hall who would like to see me get a good slap, so you would be doing them a favour,” he added.
The Lord Mayor, who has become a social media hit for his outspoken and flamboyant attitude declined to comment and stated he would email Councillor Ogle privately.
