Retro Arcade Fun Coming to The Broadway This Half Term

Gaming fans, get ready for a blast from the past! The Broadway is bringing a retro-inspired arcade experience to Bradford this February half-term, and it’s completely free to join in the fun. From 17th – 21st February, visitors can take on classic games and compete for the top score.

Open every day from 9 am-7 pm, the pop-up arcade will feature legendary games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, and Super Mario. The gaming pod will be set up outside Superdry, giving gamers of all ages the chance to relive the golden era of arcade gaming.

To keep things organised, bookings will be needed between 11 am-4 pm each day, and visitors can grab a slot at www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-broadway-Bradford. Spaces are limited during busy times, and terms and conditions apply.

Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, said: “We’re always thinking of new experiences we can bring to all shoppers and with gaming expected to reach a massive 11.56 million people by 2027, our retro arcade will be a big hit. With all the advancements happening on the gaming scene, it’s always good to experience some nostalgia, so we think the pop-up will be a hit with both old and new gamers.”

But that’s not all! As part of the Bradford City of Culture events, Impact Gamers has been given funding to showcase arcade-style games created by local youths. Two repurposed arcade cabinets featuring their work will be set up outside HMV from 12th February until the end of October.

Adam Syrop, BAFTA Games Mentor award winner 2018, from Impact Gamers, said: “We are so excited about this project. We love games, Bradford, and young people showing their potential! We are blown away having Broadway host these machines. It is such a fantastic way for hundreds of people to access. They’ll be installed with one game at first, but five new games will be added monthly leading up to a free showcase and competition event on 7th June at the National Science and Media Museum.”
