Yorkshire-based speaker Richard McCann is celebrating 20 years of coaching individuals and businesses in effective storytelling and presentations.
McCann, whose mother was the first victim of Peter Sutcliffe, has overcome personal tragedy and adversity to build a successful career as a keynote speaker and coach. Through his iCan Academy, he has delivered nearly 3,500 keynote speeches worldwide and helped 7,000 presenters improve their communication skills. His clients range from SMEs to global corporations, including Dyson, Barclays, the NHS, and Specsavers.
To mark the milestone, McCann is hosting a two-day iCan Influence Masterclass at Oulton Hall Hotel & Spa near Leeds on 14 and 15 May. The event is aimed at professionals, trainers, and leaders looking to enhance their storytelling and presentation skills.
McCann said that fear of public speaking is one of the most common anxieties people face, but he believes storytelling is a powerful tool for engagement and business success. “AI clearly has a place in business but cannot take YOUR place. Lived experience and the uniquely human ability to connect with others are what give presentations life and add authenticity to your pitch.”
Oliver North, founder and MD of North Fire, credited McCann’s coaching with helping to increase his company’s turnover by 242%. “Much of the business secured was won by myself influenced by the extra confidence I gained and Richard’s ability to bring out the best in my performance as a presenter,” he said.
