The much-loved autumn trail-running event, Run Bolton Abbey, is back for its seventh year on Sunday, 10th November. Held in the stunning surroundings of the Bolton Abbey Estate in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, this event will raise essential funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, which provides palliative care and support for people with life-limiting conditions and their families.
This year, participants will have the opportunity to run one of four distances, making the event accessible to all abilities. Runners can choose from a 10k, 10-mile, or half-marathon course, or opt for the 2.4-mile fun run, designed for families to enjoy together. The event showcases the beautiful trails, paths, and woodland of Bolton Abbey, offering access to areas of the estate that are usually closed to the public, all against a backdrop of vibrant autumn colours.
The event will begin at 9 a.m., with a special moment of reflection at 11 a.m. A two-minute silence will be observed at both the start and finish lines to mark Remembrance Day.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
Previous editions of Run Bolton Abbey have seen hundreds of participants join forces to raise funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope. These contributions help the hospice continue its invaluable work in offering expert care and grief support to local people and their families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Andrew Wood, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder, said, “Run Bolton Abbey is always a popular event and provides a unique opportunity to run on parts of the estate not usually accessible to the public. The funds raised from this event will help us to continue to provide specialist care and grief support for local people and their families, filling their last days with love.”
Event Sponsors and Partners

This year’s Run Bolton Abbey is proudly sponsored by The Yorkshire Clinic and Midgley Motor Cars, with additional support from the Bolton Abbey Estate and event partners Skipton AC. Donna Oldroyd, Private Patient Manager from The Yorkshire Clinic, said, “We are proud to be a joint sponsor for this year’s Run Bolton Abbey. Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is one of our chosen charities this year, and we wanted to support the incredible work they do for individuals and families facing difficult times as much as we possibly can. We also have a couple of our consultants who will be putting on their running shoes and joining in on the day to support this wonderful event.”
A Greener Race
In addition to raising vital funds, the event will also contribute to the environment. For each runner who participates, a tree will be planted in the Bolton Abbey Estate, making this year’s race not only a celebration of health and community but also a step toward sustainability. All participants will benefit from chip timing to track their race performance.
