Scarborough’s Peasholm Park glowed with magic last weekend as the much-loved ‘Moonlight on the Lake’ lantern trail returned, drawing over 10,000 visitors to a dazzling display of lights, lanterns, and local heritage. Organised by North Yorkshire Council and staged by Animated Objects, the event transformed the park into a nighttime wonderland, celebrating Scarborough’s rich traditions and culture.
This year’s event smashed attendance records, with more than 9,600 pre-booked tickets and hundreds of walk-ins each day, solidifying Moonlight on the Lake as one of the must-see highlights on Scarborough’s cultural calendar. The enchanting trail featured lanterns and illuminated displays inspired by local history, from the beloved Willow pattern to Scarborough’s seaside traditions and even Skipping Day – all woven together to create a vibrant storytelling experience for families and friends alike.
