SELF ESTEEM Confirmed as Saturday Headliner for Huge Homecoming Show at Sheffield’s Rock N Roll Circus

Yorkshire pop goddess ‘Self Esteem’ AKA Rebecca Lucy Taylor has been confirmed as the latest headliner to take part in Sheffield’s Rock N Roll Circus this year at Don Valley Bowl on Saturday 2nd September.

This announcement comes on the back of two consecutive sell-out shows for Self Esteem at O2 Academy Sheffield, giving music fans in Yorkshire another chance to see one the UK’s most acclaimed new artists.

With more acts to be announced, the line-up – which is being curated by Rebecca herself featuring artists close to her heart – is an all-star diverse line-up that will see Australian indie electro pop band Confidence Man, Drag Race UK break-out star Bimini and the legendary Yorkshire Arctic Monkeys tribute, Arctic Numpties, all join the party.

Self Esteem is a name on everybody’s lips right now. From her Meadowhall-inspired corset stealing the show at Glastonbury last summer to her most recent tour selling a whopping 44,000 tickets to rave national reviews, Rebecca Lucy Taylor is in high demand.

Following the news that Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will open the new circus themed spectacular atDon Valley Bowl, Self Esteem will now also headline the event on the back of a whirlwind rise to fame.

As Self Esteem, Rebecca Taylor has shaken off the shackles of her indie band past to become the unapologetic pop star she always wanted to be. With her 2019 statement debut ‘Compliments Please’, Taylor gave voice to the feelings of insecurity and misogyny-induced frustration that many of us face every day, emboldening a whole new audience with powerful, truth-telling lyricism.

Self Esteem’s second studio album, the Mercury Prize nominated (and Guardian newspaper number-one ranked) ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ released late October 2021 propelled the Rotherham born Taylor onto the global stage.

Self Esteem’s ability to convey feeling across all facets of the performance – from choreography to outfit changes to her lyricism and wall-to-wall pop bangers – has earned her plaudits from all corners and she can’t wait to head to Sheffield this September to play for another eager Yorkshire crowd in what is poised to be a pivotal year for the artist.

Speaking ahead of the Rock N Roll Circus Sheffield show, Self Esteem said today: “SHEFFIELD. I just had to come back one more time before I fully commit to writing again.

I’ve also curated my actual dream line up to join me. I am genuinely deeply excited. – Don Valley Bowl, Sept 2nd – I promise you this is NOT to be missed!”

Outside of her work as Self Esteem, Taylor turns her hand to numerous other projects, including acting (Taylor has recently been cast in a Film4 film and Sky sitcom), writing (in 2023 she will make her literary debut), composing (Taylor composed the soundtrack for Prima Facie, the arresting one woman play starring Jodie Comer which sold out a 9 week run in London’s West End, opening on Broadway in Spring 2023) and more.

Tickets will go on presale on Wednesday 19th April.

They will then be available for general sale to the public on Friday 21st April.
