Sheffield Cathedral and South Yorkshire Supertram are inviting local dog owners to enter their four-legged friends into a new competition that will see 12 pups featured in the official Sheffield Cathedral Dogs 2026 Calendar.
Running from 30 June to 11 July, the #StrikeAPaws contest is part of the 10-year anniversary celebrations for the Cathedral’s 1554 Coffee Shop, a popular and proudly dog-friendly spot in the heart of the city.
Winners will receive a professional photoshoot inside the Cathedral, a copy of the 2026 calendar, digital photographs, a doggy bag of treats and a complimentary Supertram travel pass — ideal for dogs who enjoy getting out and about, as the network currently allows dogs on all trams.
To take part, entrants must follow @sheffieldcathedral, @1554coffeeshop and @sy_supertram on social media and post a dog selfie using the hashtag #StrikeAPaws, tagging at least one of the accounts. Private accounts can enter by sending a screenshot of their post via direct message. Commenting your dog’s name on the competition post earns an extra entry.
Over the weekend of 5 and 6 July, organisers will be outside Sheffield Cathedral offering photo opportunities with a special selfie frame, activities for dog lovers, and appearances by the Cathedral’s mascot, Talbot.
Dean of Sheffield, The Very Revd Abi Thompson, said:
“Sheffield is a city that champions community, and this calendar is a joyful celebration of that, bringing people (and pups!) together in a really special way.”
The 2026 calendar will be available for purchase later this year from the Sheffield Cathedral gift shop.
