Sheffield rapper and musician Kid Blu3 is making waves on the UK music scene, climbing to an impressive number 3 on the iTunes Hip Hop chart with her new single, Natural Queen. Beating industry heavyweights like Kendrick Lamar, Ren, and Chip (featuring D Double E and Skepta), the independent artist has achieved a historic milestone as the highest-charting independent female hip hop artist in the UK.

Overcoming Challenges Through Music
Kid Blu3’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. After experiencing homelessness at 14 and spending time in the care system, she turned to music as her refuge. “Music is my medicine—it helps me cope and understand the world,” she said. Diagnosed with ADHD and Autism, Kid Blu3 has turned challenges into strengths, using her art to inspire others. “I hope my music shows that no matter where you’re from or your background, you can achieve great things.”
A Star in the Making
Currently studying songwriting on a scholarship at WaterBear Sheffield, Kid Blu3 is honing her craft while inspiring her peers. She has already performed at major UK festivals like Tramlines, Boomtown, and Kendal Calling. Eve Massaad, Director of Marketing at WaterBear, was impressed from the start: “Kid Blu3 blew me away with her stage presence and powerful lyrics. She’s focused and determined, qualities that will take her far in the industry.”
Her mentors at WaterBear are equally enthusiastic about her success. Greg Archer, Careers and Industry Manager, called her “a force of nature, driven and dedicated to her craft,” while Lamour White, Head of A&R, praised Natural Queen for its celebration of confidence and individuality. “With its catchy hooks and dynamic beat, it’s a feel-good anthem with a powerful message,” he said.
Inspiring the Next Generation
In addition to her musical achievements, Kid Blu3 is giving back to the community that supported her. She credits Sheffield organisations like Pattern+Push, Tracks, and Slambarz for helping her develop as an artist. “These organisations gave me a platform to collaborate and grow,” she said. Now, she’s using her own experiences to support other artists at WaterBear.
