Simon on the Streets is gearing up for its flagship annual fundraiser, Simon’s Big Sleep Out, which will take place on Thursday, 9th October 2025 at Leeds Civic Hall. This highly anticipated event marks a significant milestone as the charity celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The event has grown in popularity over the years, and last year saw more than 100 participants raising over £50,000. This money directly supports individuals facing homelessness in Leeds and Bradford, where the need for help has never been more urgent. A recent report highlighted a 41% increase in rough sleeping across Leeds in 2024, a worrying trend that Simon on the Streets aims to address.
Natalie, the CEO of Simon on the Streets, reflected on the charity’s impact, saying: “Over the last 25 years, we have seen how community support can transform lives. Our Big Sleep Out brings people together in a unique way. This year, as we look to the future, it’s more important than ever to combat homelessness and show our shared responsibility to those in need.”
Simon on the Streets has been providing crucial support to those experiencing homelessness in Leeds and Bradford for over two decades. The charity works with individuals who have complex needs and who often struggle to access traditional services.
Simon’s Big Sleep Out 2025 is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a chance to raise awareness about homelessness, understand the challenges faced by those living on the streets, and contribute to a cause that touches the lives of many in the region. The evening will feature guest speakers (past speakers have included the Lord Mayor of Leeds), a screening of a new Simon on the Streets film, and food, drink, and entertainment.
With homelessness continuing to rise, this year’s event is expected to be one of the largest yet. The charity is calling on participants to raise a minimum of £200 in sponsorship, with an entry fee of £30 plus booking fee.
