Bradford is gearing up for a spectacular event as STEMFest makes its debut in the Yorkshire and Humber region this July. Hosted at the Life Centre in Bradford and coordinated by the Yorkshire and Humber STEM Hub, this three-day event promises to captivate the imaginations of young people and showcase the exciting possibilities within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) sectors.
Organised by RTC North, STEMFest will bring together around 50 local companies to deliver hands-on activities and interactive sessions, highlighting the diverse range of careers available in the STEM industries. This year’s event will explore new themes, including Space, Digital, Cyber Security and Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering, and Health and Wellbeing. Each themed zone is designed to provide enriching learning experiences for the attending students.

The event is expected to draw approximately 1,000 young people from local schools each day, offering a broad audience a window into the fascinating world of STEM. One of the notable highlights includes a special session with Jim Christensen, Chief Innovation Officer for the Aldrin Family Foundation. Christensen will engage students with his interactive hands-on learning session featuring Giant Moon and Mars Maps, promising an unforgettable experience.

STEMFest Yorkshire has garnered generous support from several sponsors. Cummins, a global power technology leader, is the headline sponsor, demonstrating their commitment to STEM education and outreach. Cummins’ involvement ensures that events like STEMFest can continue to inspire future generations. Additionally, Arla Foods, the UK’s largest dairy cooperative, will sponsor all catering during the event. Known for brands such as Arla Protein, Arla Cravendale, and Lurpak, Arla Foods is dedicated to fostering innovation and supporting the community.

Claire Willis, Team Leader at the North East and Yorkshire and Humber STEM Hub, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: “This is the first time we have delivered a hands-on event of its kind in the Yorkshire and Humber region, and it is important that every young person is given the opportunity to engage with STEM, irrespective of their background. STEMFest provides a fantastic opportunity for local pupils to familiarise themselves with the companies and careers available locally, as well as providing context for teachers to bring back into the classroom.”
With an array of exciting activities and special guests, STEMFest is set to be a landmark event for the region, inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders. For more information about STEMFest, visit stem-hub.co.uk.
