The National Coal Mining Museum for England is inviting visitors to dust off their dancing shoes for a full day of 1940s-inspired fun on Saturday 21st June, from 10 am to 4 pm.
The event celebrates a defining decade in mining history with live music, vintage vehicles, food and activities for all ages.
Entertainment includes performances from the Yorkshire Military Band and Corps of Drums, along with jive and stroll dance demonstrations from Want 2 Jive. Visitors can also enjoy live vintage tunes while tucking into a pre-bookable afternoon tea or traditional fish and chips.
Vintage stalls and food vendors will be on site, featuring local names like Bier Huis, GoWhoopie and Gin Muddlers. A range of 1940s vehicles will be on display, including a 1945 Daimler Dingo Scout and a Willys Jeep.
Family activities include wartime storytelling with “Peggy” in Parkinson’s Yard, Paddy Train rides, pony feeding and 1940s discovery spots across the site.
Visitors are encouraged to dress in vintage style for a chance to win tickets for an Underground Tour in the Best Dressed 1940s competition.
Lynn Dunning, CEO of the National Coal Mining Museum for England, said:
