The Northern School of Gardening, headed by Dean Bolton Grant, is delighted to announce its launch.
Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, the Northern School of Gardening has the exclusive use of the famous Yorke Arms in Ramsgill, allowing Dean to share his passion for plants and gardening in the most stunning of settings. Dean Bolton Grant is one of the leading lights in gardening, having spent a lifetime immersed in the world of gardens and plants.
Dean first learnt his craft at Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons as gardener in the famous kitchen gardens for Raymond Blanc. Further afield he has spent time in Europe as gardener to the Queen of Denmark at Fredensborg Palace, a stunning Baroque palace. Dean’s skill and love of his craft have taken him to the southernmost point of Europe, Malta, where he was responsible for the Presidential palace gardens, the Prime Minister’s official residence, and numerous key gardens on the island.
Dean was commissioned to continue the development of the gardens at the Michelin starred Yorke Arms and consults on numerous private estates in the UK. As director of the NSG, Dean is hands on, teaching a number of the courses based at The Yorke Arms, curating developments in the garden and inviting other renowned experts in the field of garden design and horticulture to share their knowledge and passion with the students.
The Northern School of Gardening offers a range of practical, informative gardening courses throughout the year. All courses have the aim of inspiring guests, leaving them excited and armed with secrets of gardening and the enthusiasm to help transform their own gardens.
“We welcome keen home gardeners, allotment growers and those new to gardening” said Dean. “Whether you’ve had green fingers for years, or are just starting out, we will give you all the tips you need to get your garden growing.”
